OT skin dry..
Take a few tablespoons into the shower with you in a plastic cup - use a spoon to get it out as to not contaminate it. Take a warm shower (ho****er makes it worse), at the end of your shower before you turn the water off take the coconut oil and rub it all over your body. Get out of the shower and pat (don't rub) dry. Put on your long johns and climb into bed- when you get up the next morning it will have all soaked in and you'll feel like $1million!!!
Good luck!

Last winter the skin on my face was so itchy and dry. I tried a new lotion every time I went to the store, and nothing was giving me any real relief. When I went to my doctor and told her about my dry skin problem, she suggested I get a product called Amlactin, which is not a prescription lotion BUT for some reason the stores that carry it keep it behind the pharmacy counter. Sure enough, I went to Walmart and asked about it and they had it, in both lotion and cream. I bought the lotion and have not had to buy another dry skin product. It keeps my face feeling hydrated all day and it is supple to the touch. After washing my face I rub this stuff in and I am good all day long. I will use this product until they don't make it anymore!!!
Personally, I don't like vaseline because it's petroleum based and I don't feel your skin can really absorb much from it - it's basically just sealing in your skin's own oils, rather than supplementing them. The smell and lingering oiliness is also a bit off-putting to me.
I use a product called "Look Ma, New Hands" by bath and body works (they also have "Glove Potion No. 9" which is great, too) with cotton gloves. When I first started using it, I had to do it every night for about a week to get ahead of how badly my hands were dried out. Now I use it about once a week in this horrible weather.
I also teach jewelry casting, so my hands are constantly in water, plaster, abrasive powders, ammonia, and all kinds of nasty stuff, so they come by the dryness honestly - and it's REALLY bad!
Hope this helps!
